Venice 4 days Trip – Solo

Venice is a stunning city with a rich history and unique charm. It is easily reachable from Germany, making it an ideal short city trip escape. I tried to do the solo trip on my own and found it manageable. Although i didn’t use any tours company but i do enjoy the trip that i made. I booked Ryan Air for a very cheap rate only with small bag.

For a small tips maybe can show you some itinerary for 4 days Trip, here’s a suggested travel plan to help you make the most of your trip:

Day 1: Arrival and Exploration

Piazza San Marco and Doge’s Palace with rain and wind

Morning:

  • Arrive in Venice: Check into your hotel or accommodation. I didn’t stay in Venice because the cost was too high. Instead, I preferred Mestre, which is only a 30-minute tram or bus ride away from Mestre center. I booked with Booking.com in Mestre and cost only around 55€ a night in high season might cost 75€ per night. Those staying overnight don’t need to pay the daily entrance fee to get into Venice.
  • Piazza San Marco: Begin your visit at St. Mark’s Square. Explore St. Mark’s Basilica and the Campanile (bell tower) for panoramic views of the city.

Afternoon:

  • Doge’s Palace: Visit this iconic landmark to learn about Venice’s political history and admire its stunning architecture.
  • Bridge of Sighs: Walk through the famous bridge that connects the Doge’s Palace to the prison.

Evening:

Rialto Bridge where you can view the Grand Canal
  • Rialto Bridge: Stroll to the Rialto Bridge and enjoy the view of the Grand Canal.
  • Dinner: Enjoy a traditional Venetian meal at a local restaurant.

Tips for Your Trip:

  • Transport: Venice is best explored on foot and by boat. Get a Vaporetto (water bus) pass for easy transport around the city and to the islands cost around 9€ a day, but it give you possibility to hop on and off in any place you wanna visit.
  • Accommodation: Stay in the San Marco or Dorsoduro districts for easy access to main attractions, or choose Cannaregio for a more local experience. For Budget one you also can stay in Mestre like i did and take a bus for 1,5€ per trip or using the daily card for 9€ to get to Venice and back, from Mestre center can take bus No. 46
  • Local Cuisine: Try Venetian specialties such as cicchetti (small snacks), risotto al nero di seppia (squid ink risotto), and tiramisu is a must in your Agenda.
  • Weather: Venice can be hot in summer and can flood during the high-water season (acqua alta) in late autumn and winter. Check the weather forecast and pack accordingly, don’t learn from me which i forgot to check in advance and only have light clothing where doesnt suitable for the weather those days.
